(Taipei, June 13, CNA reporter Huang Li-yun) To assist children of new immigrants in expanding their career horizons, the Immigration Agency announced today that it will host the 'Multicultural Development Camp for Children of New Immigrants' during summer vacation across northern, central, and southern Taiwan. Centered on 'career exploration,' the program integrates resources from domestic enterprises to help participants discover future career paths.

Through a press release, the Immigration Agency stated that the camp aims to cultivate multicultural literacy among children of new immigrants and guide them in early self-discovery and career development. The summer program features three regional workplace experience events in the north, central, and south, developed in partnership with high-quality domestic enterprises.

Additionally, through corporate visits, workplace simulations, expert lectures, and hands-on workshops, participants will gain insights into industrial environments and explore potential career directions.

The Agency explained that this year’s program centers on 'career exploration' and will be held sequentially starting July 13. The northern session will kick off at CyberNet Information Co., where participants will engage with the IT industry workplace. The central session, on July 23, will take place at Giant Group’s Bicycle Culture Exploration Center, offering industry tours and VR cycling experiences to explore manufacturing development.

The southern session will be held on August 4 at Chi Mei Foods’ Happiness Factory, featuring DIY baking workshops and corporate visits, allowing youth to deeply understand various industry landscapes and development opportunities through direct experience.

The Agency noted that participants come from diverse backgrounds—not only from Vietnamese, Indonesian, and mainland Chinese, Hong Kong, and Macau families, but also from Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, the U.S., France, and African countries, totaling youth from 12 nations. This reflects Taiwan’s multicultural inclusiveness.

Moreover, cross-cultural exchange and interactive learning are expected to broaden international perspectives and enhance youth capabilities in understanding differences, respecting diversity, and collaborating effectively.

The Agency emphasized that children of new immigrants possess strengths in language proficiency, cross-cultural understanding, and global vision, increasingly becoming a vital force in Taiwan’s multicultural advancement. Through ongoing multicultural development programs, the Agency will continue to help youth recognize their strengths, expand their horizons, improve career planning skills, and cultivate core competencies needed for a rapidly changing society.

Each child of a new immigrant is a precious talent asset for Taiwan. The Immigration Agency stressed that it will continue to integrate government and private resources to promote empowerment and career exploration initiatives, supporting youth in leveraging their linguistic and cross-cultural advantages to become a key emerging force linking Taiwan to the global community.
