A report released today by ADP, a US integrated computing and enterprise outsourcing provider, shows that US private sector employment increased by 44,000 in July—far below analysts' prior expectations. Employment in sectors such as leisure and hospitality even contracted.
According to the report, known as the 'Little Non-Farm,' US private sector employment rose by 44,000 in July, well below the 75,000 increase analysts had forecast.
The US government is scheduled to release its official employment report on the 7th of this month, and related data is being closely monitored ahead of that announcement.
"Job switchers are highly sensitive to immediate economic conditions," said Nela Richardson, ADP's chief economist, in a statement.
As businesses continue to face pressure from the Middle East conflict and surging global energy prices, hiring activity has cooled. (Compiled by Hong Pei-Ying) 1150805
