According to a statement by Presidential Office spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui on the 10th in Taipei, the resignation of National History Museum Director Chen Yi-shen has been approved. President Lai Qing-de has appointed Distinguished Professor Chen Tsui-lian from the Department of History at National Taiwan University as the new Director of the National History Museum, effective September 14.
Kuo Ya-hui explained that Chen Tsui-lian is currently a Distinguished Professor in the Department of History at National Taiwan University. She previously worked at media outlets such as the Independence Evening Post and China Times, accumulating extensive observational experience on Taiwan's democratic constitutional development. She later transitioned to academia, serving at Tamkang University, National Chengchi University, and National Taiwan University, where she has long engaged in teaching and research on Taiwan's political history.
Kuo stated that alongside her academic work, Chen Tsui-lian has actively participated in transitional justice initiatives, serving as a consultant to the National History Museum, a member of the Advisory Committee of the National Human Rights Museum under the Ministry of Culture, and a committee member of the Transitional Justice Promotion Fund. She has provided expert advisory opinions and is recognized as an outstanding scholar with both profound academic expertise and rich practical experience.
Kuo noted that Chen Tsui-lian is still currently teaching at National Taiwan University and will assume her new role after completing the required secondment procedures. It is believed that with her appointment, she will fully utilize her talents to lead the National History Museum in fulfilling its institutional functions and inject new momentum into the compilation, research, and revision of Taiwan's historical materials.
