Taipei City Government: Power outage in municipal building causes server room temperature rise, leading to cloud platform website service interruption

The city government stated today that a power outage in the municipal building last night caused the server room temperature to rise, after which the storage equipment activated its protection mechanism and shut down, leading to the interruption of cloud platform website services.

The Taipei City Government's global information website, the 1999 citizen complaint system, and all platforms under the gov.taipei domain became inaccessible, drawing widespread attention. Mayor Chiang Wan-an, attending a prayer event at Songshan Jin'an Temple today, said in an interview that a problem occurred with the cloud platform equipment last night, and after immediate repairs, services were gradually restored. He also instructed the Department of Information Technology to strengthen system stability.

The Taipei City Department of Information Technology issued a statement explaining that the city government's website experienced platform connection issues starting around 8:30 PM on the 26th. The engineering team immediately began repairs, and platforms gradually resumed service from 1:00 AM today. The cause was determined to be an abnormality in the cloud platform network hardware equipment in the server room. The department will continue to strengthen equipment maintenance and related contingency mechanisms to ensure stable system operation.

Democratic Progressive Party Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang commented on this, saying that after the incident, an explanation of what happened should be provided to the public promptly. If it is related to an attack, everyone should unite against it, as it is a serious matter. If it is not related to an attack, it might be due to issues like server room cooling. In that case, it may be necessary to review whether the server room meets standards, and if not, whether there are areas for improvement.
