New Taipei Railway Marathon Kicks Off; 8,057 People Chase Trains in Team Relay

The New Taipei City Railway Marathon Relay Race kicked off at 7:00 AM today. Following the starting pistol fired by Mayor Hou Yu-ih and others, the first runners of the 7-person relay teams dashed out from the plaza in front of the Rainbow Bridge at "Fullon Hotel Fulong," creating an enthusiastic scene.

Registration for this "chasing the train" event reached full capacity on the opening day. A total of 1,151 teams and 8,057 people participated. Not only did city councilors, city government teams, and borough wardens form teams to join, but some teams also dressed up specifically for the race. The costumes ranged from classic anime characters to local specialties, showcasing their creativity and passion for the event.

Mayor Hou Yu-ih stated that the New Taipei Railway Marathon has entered its 11th year and has become the most representative city brand of New Taipei City.

He mentioned that the Railway Marathon not only boosts tourism in the Shuangxi and Gongliao areas but also promotes local economic development. Through running, everyone gets to know New Taipei City with their own feet, falling in love with the city while tasting local food and appreciating the beautiful mountain and sea scenery.

The route of the Railway Marathon starts from the Fullon Hotel Fulong, passes through the Old Caoling Tunnel, Gongliao Elementary School, Mudan Station, Shuangxi High School, and Gongliao Junior High School, and finally returns to the Fullon Hotel Fulong, with a total length of about 51 kilometers.
