Shooting at University of Iowa; Police Report 'Multiple' Injured

According to a report by AFP, officials in Iowa City stated in a release that "the Iowa City Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred today," adding that "no arrests have been made yet."

The statement noted: "Multiple victims have currently been transported to local hospitals for treatment, all suffering from injuries sustained in the shooting incident."

The Iowa City Police Department pointed out that officers received reports of a "large brawl" occurring on campus just before 2:00 a.m. local time (0700 GMT). Upon arriving at the scene, officers "heard gunshots."

The University of Iowa confirmed that there are victims but did not disclose further details regarding casualties.

In an emergency alert, the university urged the public to avoid the affected areas and to "remain vigilant."
