Firecracker Debris Caught on TRA Power Lines; Normal Service Resumed Between Tongxiao and Xinpu

The Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) received a report at 6:40 AM today that firecracker debris, set off by a pilgrimage procession, was caught on the East Line power lines between Tongxiao and Xinpu (K159+100). The TRA stated in a written explanation that to ensure operational safety, two-way traffic between Tongxiao and Xinpu was temporarily operated on a single track on the West Line.

The TRA pointed out that it immediately dispatched power units to the scene for emergency handling, which was completed at 8:23 AM, resuming normal two-track operations. According to statistics, this incident affected 3 trains with a cumulative delay of 37 minutes.

The returning procession of the Baishatun Gongtian Temple Mazu pilgrimage in Tongxiao, Miaoli, is expected to return to the temple this afternoon. The TRA once again urged the public not to set off firecrackers or ribbons along the railway lines, to avoid ribbons or firecracker debris getting stuck in the power lines and affecting the normal operation of trains, causing delays in passenger itineraries and affecting the public's right to travel.
