The Fire Bureau received a transfer report from the Police Bureau shortly before 7:00 a.m. today, stating that a cargo ship was on fire at the Longmen Port cargo terminal in Huxi Township, requesting the dispatch of personnel and vehicles for rescue operations.
Upon receiving the report, the Fire Bureau immediately dispatched a total of 10 vehicles and 20 personnel from the 2nd Battalion, Huxi, Magong, Pengnan, and Baisha branches to the scene, commanded by Deputy Battalion Commander Wang Szu-yuan. The Longmen and Magong Port Fire Brigades also deployed 4 vehicles and 10 personnel. A total of 14 vehicles and 30 personnel were involved in the rescue efforts.
When firefighters and police arrived, flames were visibly bursting from the 1st-floor dining room of the 1,650-ton cargo ship "Haisheng No. 1". The fierce fire rapidly spread to the 2nd-floor living quarters and the 3rd-floor bridge. Emergency personnel deployed 4 water lines extending to all floors for the rescue, successfully extinguishing the fire at 9:25 a.m.
The Fire Bureau stated that the total burned area was approximately 100 square meters. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties.
