Front Affects Keelung North Coast with Heavy Rain Tonight, Temperatures to Exceed 31°C from 9th Onwards

The Central Weather Administration today afternoon issued a heavy rain warning, stating that a front is affecting the Keelung North Coast with localized heavy rain. As of 5 PM, New Taipei City's Shimen District recorded the highest accumulated rainfall at 90 millimeters, followed by New Taipei City's Jinshan District at 79.5 millimeters.

Central Weather Administration forecaster Huang En-hong told CNA that the front is passing today, and the afternoon heavy rain is mainly due to accumulated rainfall reaching the threshold. It is expected that rainfall will gradually ease after tonight. Tomorrow, the front will weaken, and moisture will decrease. There will still be localized brief showers in various areas tomorrow morning, with rainfall gradually easing during the day. Eastern Taiwan and mountainous areas of western Taiwan will still experience localized brief showers.

Huang En-hong stated that from the 9th to the 13th, stable weather is expected across Taiwan, generally sunny to cloudy, with a muggy feeling. On the 11th, moisture will move into areas north of Taoyuan and Yilan, making localized brief showers likely. The next front is expected to approach on the 14th and affect on the 15th, bringing localized brief rain to various areas again.

Regarding temperatures, Huang En-hong pointed out that tomorrow, northern Taiwan and Yilan/Hualien regions will see high temperatures of about 23-24°C, while other areas will be 27-30°C. Low temperatures in the north will be 19-20°C, and 21-23°C in other areas. From the 9th to the 13th, northern Taiwan will warm up significantly, with high temperatures across Taiwan reaching about 31-33°C, and some localized areas possibly even higher. Low temperatures across Taiwan will be about 21-23°C.

Huang En-hong reminded that from tomorrow night to the early morning of the 9th in central and southern regions, and from the night of the 10th to the early morning of the 11th in the Matsu region, low clouds or localized fog are likely, affecting visibility.

Huang En-hong mentioned that current global models simulate the possible development of a tropical disturbance near Guam around the 10th. However, due to the Pacific high-pressure system occupying the vicinity of Taiwan, this tropical system is not expected to affect Taiwan. (Editor: Li Heng-shan) 1150407
