The Taichung City Fire Bureau stated that at 1:07 a.m. today, they received a report of a residential fire on Changyi 5th Street in Taiping District, and dispatched fire engines and personnel to the scene to handle the situation.
Firefighters indicated that the scene was a 3-story residential building. Smoke was billowing from a fire on the first floor, and the blaze was extinguished at 1:40 a.m.
At the scene, a 12-year-old female, a 63-year-old female, and a 41-year-old female were rescued from the 2nd-floor balcony, a bedroom, and a 3rd-floor bedroom, respectively. In addition, a 61-year-old female evacuated on her own. A total of 4 people suffered from respiratory smoke inhalation and other injuries, but were conscious. They were sent to the Armed Forces Taichung General Hospital, Taichung Municipal Hospital, and China Medical University Hospital for treatment.
