Fire Breaks Out at Used Clothing Factory in Wugu, New Taipei; Spreads to Four Factory Buildings

Police and fire departments received a report at 8:14 PM tonight about a fire at a factory on Minyi Road, Section 2, Wugu District. The scene was a 4-story steel frame used clothing factory. As the site consisted of connected buildings, two factories were already engulfed in flames from the start.

Fire officials stated that because a large amount of recycled clothing was stored inside, it fueled the rapid spread of the fire. The initial estimate of the burned area was about 1,500 square meters. Initially, 11 vehicles and 35 personnel were dispatched to fight the fire, but as it continued to spread, reinforcements were sent, increasing the response to 45 vehicles and 65 personnel.

Fire officials stated that currently four factories are burning, with a total burned area of about 5,676 square meters. They are urging residents of Wugu District and neighboring areas to close their windows and wear masks when going outside. (Editor: Hsiao Po-wen) 1150412
