Man Assaults Official After Being Admonished for Trespassing at Renovating Bihou Hot Springs

The Bihou Hot Spring Park, originally managed by the Yilan County Government, has been under the maintenance and management of the Nanao Township Office since this year. The park is currently closed for renovations due to facility damage from a typhoon, and the office has issued a notice reminding the public not to enter during the closure to avoid danger.

According to the police investigation, as people still occasionally trespassed to bathe during the closure, a man surnamed Hsieh, an official from the township's Culture and Tourism Section, admonished them. This angered a man surnamed Lu, who felt Hsieh was being too meddlesome. On the night of the 10th, around 10 PM, Lu learned that Hsieh was at a small eatery on Section 2, Suhua Road, Su'ao Township, and went there with six other men.

At that time, the eatery had closed for the day but the roller door was not yet pulled down. Lu and his group entered the shop, smashed tables and chairs, and assaulted Hsieh. The owner, a man surnamed Chiang, was also injured while trying to break up the fight. The Su'ao Police Precinct was notified and immediately dispatched a rapid response unit to the scene. By the time the police arrived, Lu and his group had already left. Fortunately, the two injured individuals were not in serious condition after receiving medical treatment.

Police reviewed surveillance footage to identify a specific vehicle and yesterday brought in a total of 7 suspects, including Lu, to the precinct for statements. After questioning, they were transferred to the Yilan District Prosecutors Office for investigation on charges of mob assault, intimidation, and injury under the Criminal Code.
