Sanchong Branch provided information today, stating that a gas explosion occurred around 6 AM today in a residential building on Ren'ai Street, Lane 43. A 23-year-old woman named Chen reportedly caused the explosion when she lit a lighter on the third floor. Her father, on the second floor, heard the explosion and immediately went upstairs to extinguish the fire.
Emergency services responded and, after examination, found Ms. Chen with approximately 30% second-degree burns. She was conscious and has been rushed to Mackay Hospital in Taipei City for emergency treatment, where she is in no life-threatening danger. Firefighters reported a burning area of about 10 square meters, and the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Around 12 PM today, firefighters also received a report of a fire in a traditional courtyard house in the Zhentou area of Sanxia. Firefighters quickly responded and extinguished the fire by 1 PM. During a search of the fire scene, an elderly man in his 80s was found unresponsive inside the house, without signs of breathing or heartbeat. He was transported to Sanxia Enzhugong Hospital for emergency care. The burning area was approximately 10 square meters, suspected to have started in the kitchen.
