(Central News Agency reporter Tsai Chih-ming, Chiayi County, 17th)The Ministry of Education subsidized National Chung Cheng University with NT$120 million to establish the "Advanced Green Low-Carbon Manufacturing Base," which was unveiled today. It integrates AI and low-carbon technologies to reshape the future competitiveness of Taiwan's precision machinery industry and cultivate "dual-skilled engineers" with both mechanical expertise and AI analysis capabilities.
Minister of Education Permanent Secretary Chu Chun-chang, Chiayi County Deputy Magistrate Liu Pei-tung, National Chung Cheng University President Tsai Shao-cheng, and over a hundred representatives from academia and industry attended today's unveiling and forum activities, and observed the operation of five-axis processing equipment, smart tool holder display, physics-inspired AI models, and digital twins technologies.
Chu Chun-chang told the media that the purpose of the Ministry of Education's subsidy to establish the "Advanced Green Low-Carbon Manufacturing Base" is to allow the industry to leverage National Chung Cheng University's research capacity for net-zero carbon emission transformation. Secondly, it is for talent cultivation, enabling students to learn how to combine AI with processing equipment at this base, and enter the industry immediately after graduation.
Tsai Shao-cheng pointed out that the feature of the "Advanced Green Low-Carbon Manufacturing Base" is to use artificial intelligence to transform the practical experience of veteran masters into digital assets, achieving "pre-prediction" rather than "post-correction" in the manufacturing process, reducing errors in the process, and achieving the goal of energy saving and carbon reduction.
Tsai Shao-cheng stated that in addition to National Chung Cheng University, four partner schools—Huwei University of Science and Technology, National Chin-Yi University of Technology, Hsiuping University of Science and Technology, and Wufeng University of Science and Technology—will work together to expand the educational outcomes of the "Advanced Green Low-Carbon Manufacturing Base."
Tsai Shao-cheng said that he hopes National Chung Cheng University can play a leading role in energy saving and carbon reduction, transferring the research technologies of teachers and students to manufacturers, assisting industrial upgrading, and achieving the national goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
National Chung Cheng University stated that the establishment of the "Advanced Green Low-Carbon Manufacturing Base" is part of the Ministry of Education's Department of Technical and Vocational Education's "Establishment of Regional Industry Talent and Technology Cultivation Bases" policy, aiming to promote cooperation between universities and industrial clusters to cultivate professional technical talents.
