Taoyuan City Government announced the 'TAB New Taoyuan Arterial Bus' today to upgrade its bus network system, comprising 5 optimized existing routes and 7 new ones. Aside from offering free rides with the Citizen Card on new routes during the trial period, a 'Monthly Ride and Collect Points Activity' will feature lucky draws starting in May.
The Department of Transportation stated that the 'TAB New Taoyuan Arterial Bus' brand aims to provide 12 arterial routes. The 5 existing routes (Tai 1, BR, GR, HSR, and Zhongfeng) will aim for headways of under 15 minutes during peak hours and under 30 minutes off-peak. The 7 new routes will fill gaps in major transport corridors and include circular routes like the South and North Ring lines.
Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng attended the press conference, noting improvements in network structure, frequency allocation, and information systems, while inviting operators from other counties to enhance efficiency. The 5 existing routes maintain Citizen Card discounts, and the 7 new ones are free with the card during the trial.
Chang also mentioned that 'Taoyuan Minibus' plans to add 100 routes this year, guided by local district and neighborhood chiefs. A new software prediction system will launch in June, using advanced algorithms for accurate arrival times.
The Department of Transportation announced the points activity running from May 1 to September 30. Passengers scanning a LINE QR code on 'TAB' buses earn 1 point, or 2 points on 'Disney-themed buses', which can be entered into a draw for prizes including round-trip flights and tickets to Tokyo or Hong Kong Disneyland.
