The Taiwan Tea Association held a press conference today to announce the launch of the "National Tea Drinking Day" series of events. From now until the end of June, tea businesses, farmers' associations, schools, institutions, and tea culture spaces across Taiwan will connect to host themed tea gatherings, free tea serving promotions, and tea product discounts, allowing everyone to enjoy fine Taiwanese tea in their daily lives.

Chang Hsin-teng, Chairman of the Taiwan Tea Association, stated that "World Health Day" falls between the solar terms of "Qingming" and "Guyu", which was also the traditional season for drinking tea for health. To bring back the heartwarming "roadside tea serving" culture of early Taiwanese society and highlight the concept of drinking tea for health, April 7th of each year has been designated as "National Tea Drinking Day" since 2004.

The Tea and Beverage Research Station of the Ministry of Agriculture pointed out that Taiwan's tea production techniques are excellent, and the specialty teas from various regions have unique aromas and tastes. In recent years, the Tea Association has actively promoted GABA tea, made with new processing techniques, as a major highlight.

Ou Shao-mei, founding Chairman of the Taiwan Tea Association, said that Taiwanese GABA tea is a specialty tea made through anaerobic processing. The commercial standard requires at least 150mg of γ-Amino-butyric acid (GABA) per 100g of dry tea. Research confirms that GABA is an important inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps stabilize emotions, making it particularly suitable for modern people to relieve stress and maintain health.
