According to information provided by the crew, "Lunar March 23" stars Yang Tzu-yi, Wu Cheng-hsun, Darren (Chiu Kai-wei), Fang Chi, Liang Yu-nan, and Chen Ming-chen, embarking on a fantastical journey. The crew strove for realism and specifically followed the Baishatun Mazu and Shanbian Mazu pilgrimage activities last year for filming. Director Wang Chung-cheng said that because Fang Chi is petite and could not be filmed holding a walkie-talkie, there was a scene where Wu Cheng-hsun had to find her in the crowd, and it took over 40 takes to succeed.
