Major News on the US-Iran War
(Central News Agency, Tehran, 19th, Comprehensive Foreign Wire) After US President Donald Trump announced that US negotiators would arrive in Pakistan tomorrow, Iranian sources stated that an Iranian delegation will arrive in Pakistan on the 21st, preparing for talks with the US.
Cable News Network (CNN) reported that these sources expect the members of this Iranian delegation to be the same as the previous round, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
The Iranian side anticipates that the two countries will symbolically jointly announce an extension of the US-Iran ceasefire on the 22nd.
The sources added that if all goes well and Trump agrees to travel to Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, the Iranian President will also travel there. The presidents of the two nations would then hold a "Joint Presidential Meeting" and sign the "Islamabad Declaration".
After Trump announced he would send a delegation, the Iranian side has not yet officially confirmed that its negotiators will travel to Islamabad.
Meanwhile, Reuters cited a report from Iran's Tasnim News Agency stating that Iran has not yet decided whether to send a delegation to Pakistan for negotiations.
The first round of high-level talks held between the US and Iran last weekend failed to reach an agreement. (Translated and edited by Yang Zhao-yan) 1150419
