(CNA, Madrid, 18th) Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado stated at a press conference in Madrid, Spain's capital, today that she has "no regrets" about symbolically presenting her Nobel Peace Prize medal to US President Donald Trump in January of this year.

According to an AFP report, Machado met with Trump at the White House and gave him her Nobel medal two weeks after Trump ordered the US military to attack the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, and arrest then-President Nicolas Maduro.

Trump has long desired a Nobel Peace Prize, but is currently mired in the Middle East war triggered by an airstrike against Iran in late February by his ally, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
