(Central News Agency reporter Su Muchun, Taichung, April 23) The Criminal Investigation Bureau and Taichung police today evening pursued a fraud syndicate suspect, surnamed Lu, in Taichung City. The suspect rammed their vehicle and attempted to flee. Officers continued the pursuit, fired one shot during the process, successfully stopped the vehicle, and apprehended suspect Lu. After police questioning, the suspect will be transferred for legal processing.
The Taichung City Police Bureau's Wuri Precinct announced today that the Wuri Precinct, the Criminal Investigation Bureau's Telecommunications Investigation Brigade, and the Taichung City Police Bureau's Criminal Investigation Brigade, among other units, were investigating a fraud syndicate case. They tracked the whereabouts of the involved suspect, surnamed Lu, after 6 PM today.
The special investigation team first attempted to intercept the suspect in Taichung City, but Lu rammed their investigative vehicle and fled. The police pursued him all the way to the Xitun Underpass on Provincial Highway 74 Expressway, heading eastbound, where they implemented an interception and encirclement operation. During this process, an officer fired one shot from a firearm, successfully apprehending Lu.
The police stated that there were no injuries at the scene, and relevant evidence was seized from the vehicle. The entire case will be transferred to the Taiwan Taichung District Prosecutors Office for investigation on charges of fraud and other offenses after police questioning. (Editor: Long Boan) 1150423
