Tainan, CNA – (Central News Agency reporter Chang Jung-teng, Tainan, April 24) The Tainan Metro Blue Line Phase 1 is scheduled to start construction by the end of this year, and the Tainan City Government has planned 8 "Metro Development Zones." Consultation meetings will be held on April 28 and 30 to seek opportunities for joint development with landowners.
The Tainan City Transportation Bureau today stated that the Executive Yuan approved the Tainan Metro Blue Line Phase 1 in October last year. The Transportation Bureau will conduct communication procedures for joint development bases along the metro line and urban planning changes, holding pre-public exhibition urban planning consultation meetings on April 28 at Yongkang District's Zhonghua Li Activity Center and on April 30 at East District's Deguan Li Activity Center.
The Transportation Bureau noted that Phase 1 of the Blue Line extends from TRA Bridge Station in the north, along Provincial Highway 1, south to the Cultural Center, and also turns east at the intersection of Zhonghua East Road and Dongmen Road to Ren'de Transfer Station. The line is 8.55 kilometers long and has 10 stations, all located in prime urban development areas.
Additionally, the city government has identified and designated a total of 8 "Metro Development Zones" at stations B03, B04, B06, B07, and B08, seeking opportunities for joint development with landowners to enhance land use efficiency and development benefits. The city government can also acquire off-street metro stations.
The Transportation Bureau explained that "Metro Development Zones" can be used to set up station entrances, pedestrian spaces, and metro equipment rooms, while other floors can be developed for diverse uses. If development consensus is reached, subsequent urban planning change procedures will be initiated to achieve public-private cooperation and shared development outcomes, creating a win-win development opportunity for both the private sector and the government.
