Taiwan Stocks Surge 1,300 Points to Hit 40,000 Mark; TSMC Gains NT$100

The Taiwan stock market opened high today, surging 1,300 points in early trading to cross the 40,000-point threshold, reaching a session high of 40,297. Market heavyweight TSMC rose by NT$100 to reach NT$2,235. Other major stocks also performed strongly: Foxconn (Hon Hai) rose NT$5 to NT$224.5, MediaTek hit the daily limit at NT$2,870, and Delta Electronics climbed NT$10 to NT$2,175. The electronics sub-index rose 3.03%, the financial sector gained 0.89%, and the OTC index, representing small-to-mid caps, climbed 2.18%.
