Taipei, May 8 (CNA) - E Ink Holdings today announced its first-quarter 2026 consolidated revenue of NT$8.63 billion, a 7% increase year-on-year. Net profit attributable to the parent company was NT$2.78 billion, with a quarterly earnings per share (EPS) of NT$2.41. E Ink's color e paper shipments exceeded black-and-white and consumer e paper in the first quarter.
E Ink stated that driven by product mix optimization and sustained market demand growth, its operating profit and net profit for the first quarter of 2026 reached record highs for the same period in history.
The company explained that the growth momentum in Q1 was primarily fueled by the strong performance of its E Ink Spectra 6 color e paper. The shipment area of Spectra 6 has officially surpassed that of black-and-white and consumer e paper products, leading to a shift in product mix and becoming a key factor driving revenue and profit growth. As color e paper gradually becomes the main shipment category, it further supports overall gross margin performance and strengthens the profit structure.
In terms of application markets, E Ink reported a continuous increase in demand for low-power color e paper digital signage in retail, transportation, and public information displays, leading to a stable rise in color e paper penetration. As application areas expand, e paper is moving beyond traditional display applications into more diverse usage scenarios, driving the continuous expansion of the overall market size.
E Ink highlighted that BMW recently unveiled the production version of the BMW iX3 Flow Edition at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, marking the first application of e paper on a vehicle's exterior that has passed automotive-grade verification. This demonstrates the maturity of e paper in terms of durability, reliability, and system integration. This milestone not only signifies e paper's successful entry into the highly demanding automotive environment but also symbolizes its application extending from displays to various physical surfaces.
To meet the growing demand for e paper applications, E Ink is also advancing its capacity expansion plans. The company has announced the investment in a new plant in Guanyin, Taoyuan, adopting a phased expansion strategy to continuously enhance its large-size e paper manufacturing capabilities, supporting diverse application needs in retail, transportation, and public displays.
