(Central News Agency reporter Ho Hsiu-ling, Taipei, 11th) The Taiwan stock index opened higher today, with the highest point in early trading reaching 41718.11 points, an increase of over 100 points, followed by volatile consolidation. Leading stock TSMC fell by 20 NTD, with its stock price at 2270 NTD.

Other major stocks' performance in early trading included Hon Hai, which rose by 6.5 NTD to 256.5 NTD; MediaTek, which fell by 55 NTD to 3575 NTD; and Delta Electronics, which rose by 40 NTD to 2240 NTD.
