(Central News Agency reporter Yu Hsiao-han, Taipei, 11th) Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) announced today that it will recruit train drivers in the second half of the year, with an estimated 45 positions available and a starting salary of NT$42,580. Successful candidates will undergo a comprehensive professional driver training program, and their salary will be adjusted to NT$50,280 upon becoming a certified train driver.
TRA issued a press release stating that to supplement its frontline driving personnel, it plans to recruit train drivers in the second half of 2026, with an estimated 45 positions. The detailed recruitment guidelines are expected to be officially announced in mid-June.
TRA noted that applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a college degree or higher recognized by the Ministry of Education, both domestically and internationally. Successful candidates will first be employed as 'technicians' at the 9th grade of the operational staff, with a starting salary of approximately NT$42,580, and will undergo a comprehensive professional driver training program.
TRA stated that after trainees pass all assessments and obtain a 'National Railway Locomotive and Rolling Stock Driving License' issued by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Railway Bureau, they will be officially appointed as train drivers, and their monthly salary will be adjusted to approximately NT$50,280.
