Pinhole Camera Voyeurism Scandal Spreads: Taipei Prosecutors Search 3 Kyoto Tang Branches, 4 Kuan Tse Clinics

(Taipei, May 12, Central News Agency reporter Hsieh Chun-lin) In connection with the pinhole camera voyeurism case involving Kuan Tse Clinic, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office today, in coordination with the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office and under the command of the Taipei City Police Criminal Investigation Division, conducted searches of seven clinics and venues under Kuan Tse Clinic within Taipei's jurisdiction, seizing relevant evidence.

Taipei Prosecutors today directed police to search seven clinics and venues under its jurisdiction, including Kuan Tse Clinic's Zhongxiao, Guting, Dazhi, and Nanxi branches, as well as its affiliate Kyoto Tang Chinese Medicine's Guting, Xindian, and Nanjing branches. Relevant electronic equipment was seized to preserve evidence.

After the alleged pinhole camera voyeurism case at Airi Clinic came to light, a resident in New Taipei on May 5 discovered suspected disguised surveillance camera lenses at Kuan Tse Clinic's Banqiao Zhongshan branch. Police received the report in the early hours of May 8. The New Taipei District Prosecutors Office then directed the New Taipei City Police Department's Women and Children Protection Squad and related precincts to successively search five Kuan Tse Medical Aesthetics Clinic branches: Banqiao Guanqian, Banqiao Zhongshan, Sanxia, Sanchong, and Xinzhuang. The Department of Health also dispatched personnel to assist with administrative inspections.

After the searches by prosecutors and police, it was found that the Banqiao Zhongshan, Guanqian, and Sanchong branches had traces of surveillance camera removal. Police traced the matter to a Mr. Chen, Kuan Tse Group's Operations Deputy Manager and Banqiao Zhongshan branch manager, and a Mr. Tang, Head of the Information R&D Department, who are suspected of instructing employees to remove disguised surveillance recording equipment from the clinics. Both were detained and denied visitors. As for Wang Chao-hui, the person in charge of Kuan Tse, he had left the country for China before the incident.
