(Central News Agency reporter Zhao Liyan, Taichung, 12th) With the increase in international flights at Taichung International Airport, Taichung City Government Tourism and Travel Bureau Director Chen Mei-hsiu announced today that starting June 1, the Taichung Airport Passenger Service Center will coordinate with the Tourism Administration's Taichung Airport Service Counter to extend service hours until 9 PM.
The number of routes at Taichung International Airport has greatly increased. Recently, Taichung City Councilor Yang Dian-zhong of the Democratic Progressive Party questioned in the city council that although there are currently 26 international routes, the service hours of the airport's passenger service center are out of sync with the flights. The service hours are from 9 AM to 6 PM, meaning passengers arriving in the evening cannot receive consultation services.
During today's meeting of the Taichung City Council's Transportation and Land Administration Committee, Chen Mei-hsiu announced that the Taichung City Government and the Tourism Administration have discussed and decided that starting June 1, Taichung International Airport will follow the example of Songshan and Kaohsiung Airports, extending the service hours of the travel service center until 9 PM. The Tourism Administration and the Tourism and Travel Bureau will cooperate to allocate staff.
Regarding an international flight arriving in Taichung from Macau at 9:10 PM, Chen Mei-hsiu stated that if passengers have questions at that time, they will be guided to the information service counter at the Taichung Airport terminal, where staff will assist them.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau further explained that Taichung International Airport currently has three travel (tourism) service centers: the Tourism Administration's Taichung Airport Service Counter, and the Taichung City Tourism and Travel Bureau's own tourism service center. Among them, the Civil Aeronautics Administration's Taichung Airport Passenger Information Service Counter operates from 5:30 AM until the last domestic flight arrives in the evening.
