Trump-Xi meeting to commence; Lu Shiow-yen urges high-level observation and response

Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen stated today that the Trump-Xi meeting concerns Taiwan's future and possibly military purchases, urging national high-level officials to closely observe, actively respond to, and prepare for the Trump-Xi meeting.

Lu Shiow-yen attended a press conference for Taichung City's pregnant women's transportation subsidy program, "Good Pregnancy Together in Taichung," this morning. After the event, she was interviewed by the media regarding US President Trump flying to China today for the Trump-Xi meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Lu Shiow-yen believes that the Trump-Xi meeting is being watched by the whole world and also concerns Taiwan.

Lu Shiow-yen stated that the Trump-Xi meeting might also relate to military purchases, and potentially other issues such as technology, economy, and Taiwan's future. She emphasized that attention should be paid to the Trump-Xi meeting and its potential impact on Taiwan's military purchases.
