Bear Sighted Near Fukushima School; Students Take Emergency Shelter En Route

Multiple bear sightings were reported early morning near Matsuyama Elementary School in Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. With the incidents occurring during the morning school commute, the school administration immediately instructed students walking to school to take emergency shelter in nearby buildings. Teachers were deployed to secure the school perimeter. All students eventually arrived safely. The local board of education has alerted all schools, requested parents to escort their children, and suspended outdoor activities at Matsuyama Elementary. Police remain on high alert in the area to ensure the safety of residents.
