Taichung City Dissolves Controversial Shengang Land Readjustment Association After 8-Year Delay

The Taichung City Government has officially dissolved the Shengang Dafudi Land Readjustment Association. The project, approved 13 years ago, has been suspended for over 8 years due to the association's inability to reach a consensus with landowners. After repeated failed attempts to reorganize the association and hold elections, the city intervened to protect landowners whose property rights were restricted. The prolonged dispute previously led the association's head to commit an arson attack at a Taipei MRT station.
