The 12th Lviv Media Forum (LMF-2026) commenced on May 14th in Lviv, Ukraine, for a three-day media event. Over 700 professionals, including intellectuals, researchers, politicians, civil society representatives, and international organizations, convened to discuss the forum's central theme: "Reality Under Attack: Flight, Freeze, or Fight?". Participants included the Central News Agency (CNA) from Taiwan. According to a CNA press release, Forum Chair Olha Myrovych stated, "Fighting for truth is a decisive battle." She noted that thousands of Ukrainian journalists and communicators have left their teams and newsrooms to join the battlefield for freedom and democracy, now wielding swords instead of pens. However, this is not the only battlefield; AI technology, authoritarian propaganda, bot farms, and synthetic videos have become an invisible front line. The Lviv Media Forum (LMF) stressed that "no one can stand aside" in the current situation. The "Taiwan Session," a collaboration with Taiwan's CNA and other entities, was a highlight of this year's forum. It focused on how Ukraine and Taiwan, facing disinformation attacks from Russia and China, can maintain democratic operations, defend freedom of speech, and strengthen societal resilience.
