An employee at the escape room 'Logic Dice' in Taipei died yesterday after suffering suffocation while performing as a hanged ghost on May 10th. The Taipei City Government announced yesterday that the operator was fined a total of NT$700,000 for violating labor and building regulations and that a city-wide joint safety inspection would commence today.
Mayor Chiang Wan-an stated today before attending the opening of the Taipei Traditional Market Festival that the city government immediately ordered the closure of the incident location on the day of the unfortunate safety accident. The following day, another branch was also ordered to close and heavily fined. Furthermore, a city-wide safety inspection has been launched for all escape room businesses, requiring operators to implement robust safety management.
When asked by reporters whether the central government should establish unified regulations, Chiang Wan-an responded that this case indeed highlights the lack of a unified management system for the escape room industry, and the local government will work together with the central government.
