An employee at an escape room in Taipei City's Xinyi District suffered asphyxiation after becoming entangled in a prop rope while playing the role of a hanged ghost. The incident occurred on the evening of May 10th. On-site personnel alerted emergency services, and the employee, who briefly lost vital signs, was rescued and is currently hospitalized for observation. The Taipei City Department of Labor has ordered the venue to cease operations and is investigating the incident. The department stated that the employer failed to implement necessary preventive measures, such as a two-person operation system, violating occupational safety regulations. The venue could face fines ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$300,000. Additionally, the employer is required to provide compensation for the employee's lost wages during recovery and to conduct risk assessments and occupational safety training.
