Heavy Rain Advisory Issued for 8 Counties and Cities; Pingtung Warned of Thunderstorms, Fangliao River Alerted

The Central Weather Administration has issued a heavy rain advisory for eight counties and cities, including Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung. A real-time thunderstorm warning has been issued for Pingtung, and a disaster prevention alert has been issued for the Niujiao Bay River in Pingtung. Residents are reminded that heavy rainfall is occurring or may occur, and they should be aware of rising river levels and stay away from the riverbanks.

Due to the vigorous development of convective clouds, localized heavy rainfall may occur in the mountainous areas south of Miaoli, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung today. The Central Weather Administration advises attention to lightning strikes and strong gusts. Mountainous areas should be aware of landslides, falling rocks, and rising river levels. Low-lying areas should be cautious of water accumulation.

The areas under the heavy rain advisory include mountainous areas of Miaoli County, mountainous areas of Taichung City, mountainous areas of Nantou County, mountainous areas of Yunlin County, mountainous areas of Chiayi County, mountainous areas of Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, and the Hengchun Peninsula.

The Weather Administration has also issued a real-time thunderstorm warning for Pingtung County and a mountain heavy rain disaster prevention alert for the Niujiao Bay River in Pingtung County.
