The Nikkei 225 index in Tokyo hit a record intraday high during morning trading on May 11th. However, the market reversed course as investors engaged in profit-taking, leading to a decline by the end of the trading session. The Nikkei 225 closed down 295.77 points, or 0.47%, at 62,417.88. In contrast, the TOPIX index, which includes a broader range of stocks, rose 11.45 points, or 0.30%, to close at 3,840.93.
