The '2026 Presidential Palace Concert – Democratic Taiwan, Warm Southern Songs', jointly hosted by the Presidential Office and the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC), allows the public to experience Taiwan's journey to becoming a democratic nation through melodies and democracy interactive booths set up by the GACC.
The GACC released a press release today stating that the concert is divided into five main themes: 'Island Echoes', 'Freedom Blossoming', 'Confident Leadership', 'Walking Hand in Hand', and 'Watching Over Taiwan'. Nearly 30 groups of performers will present classic Taiwanese songs spanning half a century. The venue will also feature markets, street performances, and an outdoor broadcast area, with live streaming available online.
The GACC's 'Fountain' magazine will collaborate with the concert to offer interactive worksheets on-site. GACC Secretary-General Lee Hou-ching stated that the transition from authoritarian rule to a people-centered society was achieved through the sacrifices and persistent dedication of countless predecessors. He hopes that through this interaction, the public will understand that Taiwan's democracy and freedom were hard-won.
The 2026 Presidential Palace Concert, 'Democratic Taiwan, Warm Southern Songs', will be held on May 23 at the Pingtung County Stadium.
