Taipei, May 16 (CNA) Son Ang-tso, son of actor Sun Peng, has been sent to prosecutors for investigation on suspicion of endangering public safety after posting a video on social media testing a homemade flamethrower by a riverbank. The Taipei City Police Department's Beitou Precinct, under the direction of the Shilin District Prosecutors Office, arrested Son and another individual on Wednesday morning.
According to a press release from the Beitou Precinct, a well-known internet personality recently posted a video on social media testing a flamethrower by the Beitou Creek. The video featured large flames and was filmed near a public thoroughfare and residential areas, raising public safety concerns.
The Beitou Precinct, in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure, reported the case to the Shilin District Prosecutors Office for direction.
Prosecutors directed officers from the Beitou Precinct and the Taipei City Criminal Investigation Division to arrest Son and another individual early Wednesday morning.
Following police questioning, the two individuals will be transferred to the Shilin District Prosecutors Office for investigation on charges including public intimidation and endangering public safety.
The Beitou Precinct stated that the area where the incident occurred is surrounded by low shrubs, and a fire could have had unimaginable consequences.
Police urged the public not to follow suit, emphasizing that manufacturing weapons with lethal capabilities is against the law and can cause social panic. They encouraged citizens to immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities by calling 110, assuring prompt response and investigation to protect the lives and property of citizens.
