Su Chih-chieh's Go-Ahead 3-Run Homer, Hu Chih-wei's Strong Pitching Lead Lions to First Win Against Dragons This Season

The Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions secured their first victory against the Wei Chuan Dragons this season with a 5-3 win on May 12th. The Lions' offense was powered by Su Chih-chieh's crucial three-run home run, while starting pitcher Hu Chih-wei delivered a quality start, pitching six innings and allowing only two earned runs.

The Lions, playing at the main stadium of the Asia-Pacific International Baseball Training Center, took the lead in the bottom of the second inning when Chen Sheng-ping walked, Chen Chung-yu singled, and a ground ball brought in a run.

In the bottom of the third, Chen Chieh-hsien, Su Chih-chieh, and Lin Tzu-hao hit consecutive singles to add another run. The Dragons responded in the top of the fourth when Lee Chan-yi drew a walk, advanced on an error, and scored on a single by Chiang Shao-hung. Lin Hsiao-cheng then hit a single to tie the game.

The Lions regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Lin Chia-wei reached on an error, stole second, Chen Chieh-hsien walked, and Su Chih-chieh hit a three-run homer to put the Lions ahead. In the top of the fifth, Chu Yu-hsien hit his sixth home run of the season for the Dragons, but they were unable to score further and ultimately lost the game.

Lions' starting pitcher Hu Chih-wei threw 90 pitches over six innings, giving up eight hits, including one home run. He recorded three strikeouts and two walks, allowing three runs (two earned) to earn his second win of the season. The Lions had entered the game having lost their previous five matchups against the Dragons this season.
