Taitung Vocational Student Accepted by CPC Corporation, Excited by "Shock" of Exploration Drills

The results of Taiwan CPC Corporation's vocational scholarship recruitment have been announced, with Chang Wen-wei, a student from the National Taitung Vocational High School's Electrical Engineering Department, being selected. He will join the Exploration and Production Business Unit, receiving a NT$40,000 scholarship and becoming a full-time employee of CPC, ready to tackle the 30-meter high drilling rigs.

Chang stated that he prefers the "shock" of drill operations to working in an air-conditioned office. He sees CPC's Exploration and Production Business Unit as Taiwan's energy frontline, with work involving field surveys, offshore exploration, and high-altitude operations that make one's palms sweat. He mentioned that he was a frequent visitor to the school's workshops, developing a diligent attitude that fears neither dirt nor fatigue. He described this "highly labor-intensive" job as bringing electric game scenes to life, full of challenges. He aims to explore with CPC, stating, "My youth shines on the drill rig, and I will drill out a new chapter of Taiwan's black gold."

His homeroom teacher, Huang Sheng-yeh, noted that Chang grew up in a single-parent household with limited financial resources. While others enjoyed winter and summer breaks, he often worked part-time to earn living expenses, accumulating significant practical experience and a hardworking attitude over three years. His successful acceptance into the CPC scholarship exam, despite traveling from Taitung to Miaoli, proves that hard work pays off.

Taitung Vocational High School stated that Chang's work is not only challenging but also offers a salary enviable to his peers. According to the latest 2026 national enterprise salary standards, full-time employees start at approximately NT$37,000 per month, plus a year-end bonus of up to 4.4 months' salary. This represents not only stable income but also high recognition of vocational expertise by the nation, demonstrating that with the right skills, a vocational high school graduate can directly connect with national-level enterprises.

CPC Corporation, through the school, expressed optimism about the "grounded and practical" qualities of vocational students. Chang's successful admission highlights the value of vocational education, proving that "as long as you drill deep enough, life will eventually erupt with dazzling energy."
