Taiwan People's Party Chairman Huang Kuo-chang commented on the recent Trump-Xi summit, stating that dialogue between the world's two major powers is a positive development. He expressed hope that US-Taiwan relations remain 'rock solid' and urged the US, as Taiwan's best democratic ally, to uphold all its commitments to Taiwan. Huang mentioned that US President Donald Trump stated after his visit to Beijing that he had discussed military sales with Chinese President Xi Jinping and would make a decision soon. Huang believes it is necessary for Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clearly communicate with the US side and for the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) to respond whether all assurances to Taiwan have changed. He also noted the People's Party's nomination of six candidates for the Taichung City Council elections.
