Hua Nan Financial Holdings Cup Little League and Junior League Tournaments to Kick Off, Vying for National Team Spots

(CNA, Taipei, May 18, Reporter: Hsieh Ching-wen) The Hua Nan Financial Holdings Cup Little League and Junior League tournaments will kick off on May 23 and 29, respectively, serving as national team selection events. At today's press conference, Uni-President Lions outfielder Huang Tien-Tzu shared the significant benefits gained from his experience in international competitions, encouraging younger players to enjoy the game while also reminding them to 'listen to the coach.'

The 115th Hua Nan Financial Holdings Cup National Little League Baseball Tournament will be held from May 23 to 31 at the main and auxiliary little league fields of the Tainan Asia-Pacific International Baseball Training Centers. The champion team will earn the right to form the national team and represent the country at the 12th Asian Little League Championship in China in 2026.

The Hua Nan Financial Holdings Cup National Junior League Baseball Tournament will take place from May 29 to June 7 at the Sanchong Baseball Stadium in New Taipei City and the Pingzhen Baseball Stadium in Taoyuan City. The champion team will secure the right to form the national team and represent the nation at the 7th WBSC U15 Baseball World Cup in Mexico in 2026.

At today's press conference for the event, Chen Fen-Lan, Chairwoman of Hua Nan Financial Holdings and Hua Nan Bank, stated that baseball is Taiwan's national sport. Every baseball player starts from the grassroots level and requires long-term effort to make it to the field, yet grassroots development often lacks attention and resources.

To protect the baseball dreams of children, Hua Nan Financial Holdings began promoting the 'One Ball, One Dream' grassroots baseball development program 20 years ago. Through various means such as donating equipment, organizing training camps, hosting national little league and junior league tournaments, and supporting international events, the company continues to invest its efforts, hoping to build more energy for the future of Taiwanese baseball.

Uni-President 7-ELEVEn Lions outfielder Huang Tien-Tzu previously won the MVP award in both the little league and junior league editions of the Hua Nan Financial Holdings Cup and has also received individual awards in international little league and junior league competitions.

Huang stated that international competitions helped people get to know him, and he considers himself quite lucky. The experience honed in international tournaments improved his on-field adaptability and ability to read the game compared to his peers.
