(CNA, Hsinchu, May 18, by reporter Chang Chien-chung) Wafer foundry TSMC announced today the sale of 152 million shares of Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS) at NT$160.6 per share, for a total transaction amount of NT$24.411 billion. Including the gains from re-measuring its remaining shares at fair value, the estimated profit is NT$63.202 billion. TSMC's announcement stated that Chairman C.C. Wei decided on May 15 to dispose of approximately 8.1% of its stake in VIS. Today, TSMC sold 152 million shares of VIS at NT$160.6 per share, for a total transaction amount of NT$24.411 billion. TSMC estimates that after this divestment, it will still hold 354 million shares of VIS, representing a stake of about 19%, with a book value of NT$56.399 billion. TSMC stated that including the gains from re-measuring the remaining 354 million shares at fair value, the profit reaches NT$63.202 billion.
