Woman in Taichung's North District Suspected of Drowsy Driving, Hits 9 Scooters and a Dumpster

(CNA, Taichung, 18th, by reporter Su Mu-chun) A woman surnamed Lin was driving in Taichung's North District this morning and, possibly due to a momentary lapse of concentration, drove into the wrong lane, hitting nine parked scooters and a large garbage container. Fortunately, no one was injured. The woman tested negative for alcohol, and the exact cause of the accident is pending a police investigation.

The Taichung City Police Department's Second Precinct stated today that they received a report of a traffic accident near Hankou Road on Taiyuan 4th Street in the North District at 9:12 AM and immediately dispatched officers to the scene.

According to the police investigation, the 35-year-old woman, Lin, was driving a car and turned right from Shaanxi Road onto Taiyuan 4th Street via Hankou Road. It is suspected that due to a momentary lapse of concentration, she drove in the wrong direction towards Taiyuan North Road, inadvertently scraping nine parked scooters and a large garbage container. The incident caused vehicle damage, but fortunately, no one was injured.
