Hong Kong Chief Executive to Lead Delegation with 60 Business Representatives to Central Asia

(CNA, reporter Chang Chien, Hong Kong, 19th) Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee will lead a delegation to visit Central Asia early next month to develop local markets and strengthen ties with local governments, accompanied by 60 business and trade representatives. John Lee publicly announced today that he will lead a delegation to visit Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. He said that the Central Asian region is actively promoting economic diversification and is flourishing in multiple areas such as finance, trade, infrastructure, innovation and technology, tourism, and green development, offering much room for cooperation with Hong Kong. The upcoming destinations, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, are two large markets in Central Asia, rich in natural resources, with sustained economic development, strong growth momentum, and excellent market potential. He stated that this delegation to Central Asia will be the largest, most numerous, and most broadly representative of businesses in an overseas visit by the current administration. Its members include government officials and over 60 high-level business and trade representatives covering sectors such as industry and commerce, finance, law, construction engineering, logistics, and innovation and technology. Among the 60 business representatives, about 30 are representatives of mainland enterprises. John Lee said that this visit to Central Asia has three main objectives: first, to further explore emerging markets; second, to strengthen government-to-government relations and exchanges to promote closer cooperation; and third, to build a hub-to-hub cooperation model.
