Minister of Education Cheng Ying-yao inspected the needs of several schools in Chiayi City today, promising over NT$10 million in subsidies to help improve the campus learning environment. The funds will address renovation projects and electrical system improvements at Chiayi Girls' Senior High School, Chiayi Special School, and Lantan Elementary School. Accompanied by DPP Legislator Wang Mei-hui and others, Cheng Ying-yao visited the three schools consecutively to show concern for the students' learning environment and campus construction needs. In a press release, Wang Mei-hui stated that Chiayi Girls' Senior High School had already received approval from the Ministry of Education this year for NT$3.7 million for swimming pool repairs. During today's inspection, Cheng Ying-yao promised on the spot to provide an additional NT$1.1 million to improve the school's clay tennis court, enhancing the students' sports environment. While inspecting Lantan Elementary School, Cheng Ying-yao stated that the school's campus ground renovation project would incorporate sustainable environmental concepts to create a green and inclusive sustainable campus. He promised a subsidy of over NT$3 million to assist with the campus improvement. Additionally, the Chiayi Special School proposed several campus improvement needs, including updating the electrical system and removing hazardous trees like the blackboard tree. The electrical system replacement requires NT$6 million, and tree removal needs approximately over NT$2.6 million. The Ministry of Education also promised assistance for these projects. Cheng Ying-yao stated that improving school sports environments and campus facilities is a high-priority task for the Ministry of Education. Only with complete basic infrastructure can students learn with peace of mind and grow up healthy. Wang Mei-hui said she will continue to seek funding from the central government to improve campus environments and provide students with a safer and more complete learning space.
