(CNA, Taipei, May 19, by reporter Li Chien-chung) To continuously improve the quality of medical care and training safety for its athletes, the National Sports Training Center (NSTC) has officially established a medical institution, the "On-Site Clinic," in accordance with the law. This move comprehensively strengthens its sports medicine care capacity to provide more immediate, professional, and integrated medical services. The NSTC has specially invited Dr. Wu Wen-chih, a long-term partner and former superintendent of the Armed Forces Zuoying General Hospital, to serve as the clinic's responsible physician. Dr. Wu, who comes from a youth baseball background, transitioned from being an athlete to the medical field. His dual expertise in sports and medicine allows him to deeply understand the actual needs of athletes during training and competition. NSTC CEO Chiu Chun-chiang stated that the clinic operates under the core principle of "athlete's health first." It integrates functions such as sports medicine, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and medical management to offer outpatient services, sports injury assessments, acute care, rehabilitation, and subsequent referral services, establishing a complete and continuous medical care process. Chiu also extended special thanks to the Kaohsiung City Government's Department of Health for its active assistance and professional guidance during the clinic's establishment. Their support helped the center complete the planning and setup in compliance with relevant medical regulations and systems, strengthening the foundation of the overall medical service system and steering the NSTC's sports medical care towards greater professionalism and institutionalization. The NSTC is also connecting with external medical resources, establishing cooperative mechanisms with multiple medical institutions to enhance referral efficiency and the cross-disciplinary medical support network. This ensures that athletes can receive timely, stable, and high-quality medical care services at different stages of training and competition.
