Presidential Impeachment Motion Fails to Pass; Office Urges Legislators to Expedite Budget Review

Presidential Office spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui stated today that the President has always been open and upright, steadfastly leading the nation forward, and called on legislators to expedite the review of this year's general budget, to do something truly positive and meaningful for the people. The Legislative Yuan today held a recorded vote on President Lai Ching-te's impeachment motion, with both ruling and opposition parties mobilizing. The voting result showed 56 KMT and TPP legislators voted in favor of the impeachment motion, while 50 DPP legislators voted against it. According to regulations, the motion did not meet the passing threshold and therefore failed.
