The Legislative Yuan held a recorded vote on the impeachment of President Lai Ching-te today, which failed to pass the required threshold. Presidential Office spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui stated that the president has always led the country forward with integrity and urged legislators to promptly review this year's general budget. She emphasized that the president's "Four Pillars of Peace" action plan has yielded solid achievements in areas from strengthening national defense and economic security to deepening democratic partnerships. On defense, she noted the budget has reached 3% of GDP and a special NT$1.25 trillion procurement budget was proposed, but the opposition cut it by NT$470 billion. Regarding cross-strait relations, Kuo said the president has shown stable leadership and is willing to engage in dialogue with China on the principles of equality and dignity to reduce conflict.
