Iran's claim to have allowed over 20 ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz has eased market fears of a prolonged war in the Middle East, leading major European stock markets to close higher today and international oil prices to fall. The London FTSE 100 index rose 101.79 points, or 0.99%, to close at 10,432.34. The Frankfurt DAX index climbed 336.59 points, or 1.38%, to finish at 24,737.24. The Paris CAC 40 index gained 135.66 points, or 1.70%, to end at 8,117.42.
