(CNA, Taipei, May 20) Russian media reported that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated today that Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump may meet this autumn at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit hosted by China. This year's APEC summit will be held in Shenzhen from November 18 to 19. According to Sputnik News Agency, Putin, who is currently on a state visit to China, confirmed during his talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping today that he is willing to attend this year's APEC summit in Shenzhen. Russia's Izvestia newspaper reported that when asked about the possibility of a bilateral meeting between Putin and Trump during the APEC Shenzhen summit, Peskov (Dmitry Peskov) stated, "Theoretically, it is possible. Theoretically, (Putin) can meet with all participants of the summit; that is the very point of holding a summit." On August 15, 2025, Putin and Trump held talks at a U.S. military base in Anchorage, Alaska, which caused considerable controversy at the time.
